Stafford Sand and Gravel is located in Stafford Spring, CT and has been family owned and operated since 1999. The company provides a variety of quality stone and aggregate materials to customers ranging from large scale projects to small residential jobs.
Challenge
Larry Von, Owner of Stafford Sand and Gravel, was having a hard time making spec material. The equipment he had in place wasn’t providing the results he needed.
Solution
Stafford Sand and Gravel worked with their dealer, Ace Equipment Sales, to find the best equipment for their application. CJ Knight, Ace Equipment Sales, came on site to look at the rock and what they were trying to make. It was recommended that an impactor would be a good fit for this location.
Stafford Sand and Gravel is now running an IROCK RDS-20 Portable Horizontal Shaft Impact Crusher as a primary and secondary crusher. This plant is easy to move, simple to operate and provides a quick set-up. IROCK’s RDS-20 increases production by up to 20 percent by splitting oversized material to return to the crusher on two decks, rather than one. The plant combines a closed-circuit design, high-performance four-bar impactor, and heavy-duty components to produce a uniform, cubical product.
Results
The IROCK RDS-20 is providing Stafford Sand & Gravel stellar results hammering material down into 18” minus and making products from 1 ¼” – ⅜’’ stone and manufactured sand.
